With longstanding journalistic and writing activity, his articles have been published in financial newspapers and magazines specialized in Aviation and Tourism. Author of pioneering monographs on the development issues of Olympic Airways (1989), he has published during a course of many years, a series of articles regarding its viability, its position in the international environment, as well as for other private airlines in general, while at the same time he participated in relevant International and Greek Conferences and Organizations. Successful and long-term engagement with issues regarding private airports / heliports, Low Cost Carriers (LCC), Aircraft Fractional Ownership, Ground handling matters. At his law firm “EMM. GYZIS AND ASSOCIATES”, together with a group of specialized associates he deals mainly with aviation law issues (cooperation with construction companies for commercial aircraft and leasing companies) and tourism law issues, specializing in mass tourism from/ to Greece and occasionally cooperating with Tour Operators. Since 1993, he has founded a number of Greek and foreign airline companies, on behalf of his clients, in accordance with the applicable legal status. He has participated in committees for the drafting of legislation regarding air transport, such as private airports, the Presidential Decree for private heliports and the Basic Legislation of the Aviation Code and he is the General Secretary of the Hellenic Aviation Society. Cyclades found their… Austrian
Naxos air is indeed an air business venture of particular importance for the Cyclades.
The Austrian "Georgos", as the locals call him here in Naxos, being for 35 years in love with the beautiful Greek island, George Pommer as his full name is, decided to realize his dream, to interconnect the Cyclades. He wants to make them similar to French Polynesia and not only.
He has been working on the design of this project for several years, being in close communication with the HCAA and the European Safety Aviation Agency. Besides, his vast experience in the area starts from the Green Air which has the Austrian Salzburg.
The competition in Greece, of course, because of the Aegean, Olympic Air, Sky Express and Ellinair, does not discourage him.
This is because while the aforementioned air companies fly from Athens and Thessaloniki to the main Cycladic destinations like Mykonos, Santorini and Syros, there is a missing link between Cyclades.
The fleet to be run will involve 12seat and 16seat aircrafts.
Those planes are easily filled, need small corridors from / landing and the per seat cost is low and competitive.
Pommer starts cleverly from the most popular airports of Mykonos and Santorini, with an existing commercial air traffic of about 350,000 passengers annually.
He started with the new Cesna Caravan Ex to make test flights with 12 passenger capacity and 600 kg load. It traveled the distance in less than 25 minutes.
A parallel goal is to extend up to nine months of the flight other than the major Cyclades and Paros and Naxos.
Syros and Milos are the new destinations he “sees” as well.
The logos of the new airline dominate in all the islands of Cyclades that is about to service already.
Of course the weather conditions of these islands during the summer season with fierce local winds may turbulent with the passengers in these small aircraft but they are proved to be very safe in their flight operations.
We truly believe that the contribution of this company will generate a substantial interconnection of high value for the islands of the Aegean.
We wish that, because it was missing in that geographic area, after the fiasco the irrelevant Greek state treated with, when it literally buried the hopes of a big company of seaplanes to be granted flight permit.
That company which believed that private initiative might have possibilities of realization in this unhospitable, to private investors, country.

TUI expands radically its aviation project in Europe
TUI, being the tourism and aviation leader as it is, does not miss the opportunity to prove that it worthy possesses this World title.
This is because it proceeds in the creation of a new air company which, starting in April 2017, will commence having as its dowry a fleet of 60 aircrafts, possibly bi-typical, to fly the European sky.
Thus, the partnership of EAG and TUI together with ATIHAD AVIATION GROUP which is already in the stock market will transfer this new impetus for the aviation market.
TUI will contribute 14 aircrafts in this partnership and will hold 24,8% of the new company structure.
ATIHAD will hold 25% and the powerful in business and capital private institution NIKH private stiffung will hold the anticipated majority of 50,2%.
The seat of the new company has been established in Vienna, Austria
Main destinations initially will be Germany and several of its cities, Austria, Switzerland as well as Greece and Spain.
The detailed schedule for the cities of each of the abovementioned countries is currently under construction by the company. In all probabilities low cost and tarrif cities will be chosen. This will happen in order for the new company to set the prerequisites of a quick and effective profit.
The endevour has an LCC air carrier "taste".
We believe, based on our long lasting experience in the aviation field, that it will be hard for our predictions to fail. Time will tell since passengers as well will profit largely from the cost of the ticket and the safety of their air travel, because TUI and its current collaborators are distinguished for their quality of the fleet they always use.
New Chairman of the BoD of AIA – A Fierce technocrat
How he pre-empted any crash test at the top of the Airport’s Administrative pyramid
We positively welcome the emergence of the fierce technocrat and Assistant Professor at the Democritus University of Thrace, Mr. Dimitrios Dimitriou, as the new Chairman of AIA.
With a strong record and a successful career in the field of transport and the experience gained from an exceptional, world-renowned institution of Great Britain, Cranfield, an excellent friend and person, with whom, the undersigned had the pleasure of serving together at the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Aviation Society for several years, he is the right person for this "key" position.
His appointment by the relevant Minister and the respective validation by the present Hellenic government, gives an immediate, positive and definite solution regarding the scenarios that could create "turbulence" at the Administrative Pyramid of "Eleftherios Venizelos” Airport.
Those scenarios theoretically called for the recurrence and reappointment, as Chairman of the Board, of Haris Pamboukis.
There was potentially little probability for the professor, known for serving his term during previous administrations, as an expert on international aviation matters, to maintain a possible consensus and cooperation with the present CEO of the airport, Mr. Dimitrios Paraschis.
Such a potential development would hinder the advancement of AIA’s course, with equivocal effects.
Therefore, our positive response to the emergence of Dimitrios Dimitriou in the top management has dual significance.
We all anticipate now, to the extent possible, in these extremely difficult economic times for our homeland, Hellas, that the new worthy Chairman will develop substantial projects, with his prudence, rigor and scholarship that distinguish him.
Besides, he was chairman at another organization a few years ago, where he conducted significant work.
We wish him the best for the advancement of this major international investment.

THE MARVELOUS AVIATION SHOW
FARNBOROUGH 2016, 11-17 July
The presence of the author at this unique air event has really been a magnificent personal experience.
During its course, from 11 to 17 July, the organizers have confirmed that the orders and aircraft purchase options signed, were amounting to USD 123.9 billion.
As it has been officially registered in the order books, 856 aircraft, of approximate value of 94 billion USD and engines worth approximate 23 billion USD, were ordered, with smaller parallel agreements, amounting to 7 billion USD.
The event was inaugurated by the former British Prime Minister, David Cameron, and Richard Branson, the visionary major shareholder of Virgin Atlantic.

THE SAME OLD FOR THE HELLENIC TOURISM IN 2016
Many and grandiose announcements have been made this year by the Ministers "typically" responsible for the HELLENIC TOURISM.
Promises, supposed potentials, numbers that can perhaps be made reachable, but without substance.
How many times will we vocally shout, are we going to write in a satirical manner that, 25, 26, 27 million TOURISTS of that level are a long-lasting disease for the HELLENIC TOURISM?
The Germans, the British, the eccentric Russians which we proselytize, are routine deleterious TOURISTS, the likes of which, must be slowly, but steadily, become "metabolized".
But someone will say, the AIA traffic is constantly rising, Turkey loses all tourists flow rapidly because of the uncertainty that visitors have due to the bombings, why do you make so pessimistic projections regarding the revenues?
This is where the problem lies. In the mismatched revenues, in relation to the incoming numbers.
And not only in those.
The CEO of Fraport is touring to oversee the Hellenic “juicy properties”.
14 Hellenic Airports at the mercy of the “Investors”.
The “pretend” privatization of the 14 HELLENIC real estate “prime fillets” that Fraport demanded and ultimately received from Hellas, is entering its main phase.
Dr Stefan Schulte is making a tour, like a prince of mercy overseeing his colony, meeting with the local municipal authorities.
He tries to assure them of his good intentions for the "development" of their regions, in the way though, that the Group he represents, sees fit.
Besides, the total price that will be paid and the annual fees, the peculiar development that they will offer to these HELLENIC AIRPORTS will be a minor fraction compared to the huge profits that will be reaped directly and indirectly from this unique investment.

IN A HARSH WAR AGAINST THE “MARIE – ANTOINETTE” OF HELLAS
The interview of the eccentric Commercial Director and co-owner of the LCC Airline Company, that was published in the latest “VIMA of Sunday”, marks the beginning of a mega - war with the beautiful Deputy Minister of Tourism. Starting with the huge pressure his company is under, due to its growing fleet, at the same time he said many true things.
Tragic truths about the degradation of the HELLENIC TOURISM. The one that Helena Kountouras boasts that, along with the cruises, will reach 27.5 mil. TOURISTS this year, with disproportionately mismatched revenue of 15.0 billion Euros.
O'Brien’s assertions include, inter alia, the lack of proposals for the extension of the Tourist season in our Country.
At the same time, he says that the imposition of new taxes upon the Tourist product by the the current government, ignores the product per se, and aims to the “closing” of the assessment by our Lenders.
“We, he mentions, have submitted repetitive proposals with dozens of letters to the Deputy Minister, very few of which were answered, but to no avail.
Particularly, when, in his most recent letter, dated 03.18.2016, he mentioned the beginning of flight cancellations that RYANAIR will implement, starting with Kos, the Deputy Minister did not even reply, "because perhaps she was too busy with the exhibition in Miami."

The infamous TAIPED and the old OLYMPIC have succeeded after so many years to sell out, for scrap and possibly for pots, two of the aircraft that have cost the naive Greek taxpayer, along with the other two that were managed to be sold in pieces, more than USD 400.0 million, including the costs for their pointless maintenance for years, storage costs and various other multifarious expenditure as well as and engines that "vanished into thin air".
And when in 2011 a buyer from the US was found, willing to offer about USD 40.0 million, a series of circumstances has canceled this contract as well.
Subsequently, APOLLO AVIATION offered USD 9.0 million, but the Greek Bureaucracy and the Hellenic Court of Audit, have dissolved any hope of a sale.

and Luxemburg “on the horizon”
Panayotis Roumeliotis, the Chairman of the Board of Eleftherios Venizelos Airport, has recently been appointed by the current Administration.
Being well known for his directness and honest attitude in every position in which he has served, he is fighting a tough battle nowadays, against TAIPED.
And of course, the TAIPED seems to go along with the view of the private operator, and owner of 40% of the Airport’s shares, the Canadian pension Fund PSP, whose executives came in Athens at the end of January and met with the management of the International Airport and top government officials.
The Chairman of the Board insists on denying the "haste", that the contract should be extended now for another further 20 years, meaning until 2046!!
The refusal of P. Roumeliotis is based on the reasoned opinion, that the price will be much higher, in favor of the Greek State, which currently owns 55% of the Athens International Airport.
Logically, if one reviews the Greek Stock Exchange during this period, one would be at least a fool "not to see" that it struggles for survival, having reached, with small temporary bursts, its lowest levels since the last 25 years.
Aegean Airlines “fights” with its limits.
During 2016 the Hellenic monopolistic Aviation group of Aegean, attached with OLYMPIC, which was delivered by MIG without a fight, is indeed engaging in business "maneuvers" in a highly competitive International Aviation field.
New aircraft were ordered, as announced in October 2015, with a fleet exceeding 60 aircraft, and targeting more than 16,0 million passengers.
It aims to 145 destinations in total and 6-7 new countries to venture.
Tehran has been an important step, but the only 3 flights per week appear to be somewhat unpractical for businessmen, which is why the revocation of the US countermeasures, the flights should be increased to at least 5 per week.
Competition abroad with AirFrance / KLM and British, especially regarding London, gives it a second carrier share of about 30%, with British being first with 34%.
At the same time we should count Germany, where the common codes with Lufthansa provide an added advantage of excellent profitability.
